Patient Information
Becoming an Ohio Medical Marijuana Patient.
Getting Started
The first step towards eligibility in the Ohio Medical Marijuana Program is to make an appointment with a Certified Physician.
An evaluation with a certified physician is required at least once per year. The cost of the evaluation may vary from physician to physician. Appointments may be in person or have a telemedicine alternative.
Once the patient is registered with the state, they should receive an email with a link to their Medical Marijuana Registry Account where they will complete their registration and pay the required fee. The annual cost of a medical marijuana registration is $50 for patients and $25 for caregivers. Patients who qualify for indigent or veteran status may be eligible for fee reductions and should discuss this with their CTR Physician during their evaluation.
Recommendations
Most recommendations are written for 12 months. The recommendation start date begins on the same day that the recommendation was written.
The Medical Marijuana Card is valid for one (1) year and requires renewal annually. The start date for a medical marijuana card registration begins on the same day that the fee associated with the card was paid on the Registry website.
Ohio does not currently accept medical marijuana registry cards from out-of-state.

Renewing Your Card
In the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program, patients renew their registration by completing a two-step process.
Patients will receive an automated email from the Registry with a link to renew their registration.
Patients will have to log into the Registry themselves, as detailed later in this document.
Process:
STEP ONE: RECEIVE A NEW RECOMMENDATION FROM YOUR PHYSICIAN:
Patients need to receive a new recommendation from their recommending physician.
STEP TWO: LOG INTO REGISTRY AND PAY RENEWAL FEE:
Within 30 days of the registration expiration date, or after receiving a new recommendation if the current registration is expired, patients can visit www.ohiomedicalmarijuanaregistry.com and sign in using their email address and the password they created when they activated their Registry account.
STEP THREE: CONFIRM
After the new recommendation is issued, the “RENEW CARD” button will appear in the Registry account, and the patient can complete the renewal process.
Once they log into their Registry account, patients can click the red button labeled “RENEW CARD” to renew their registration.
Caregivers must also renew their registration with the Ohio Medical Marijuana Registry.
If you have any further questions about renewing registrations, please contact the Board via email at MMCBRegistry@pharmacy.ohio.gov.
